![]() This was a great touch, one that I wish more restaurants would employ. Even the kids meal included a side of applesauce which they brought out as an appetizer. They have an extensive menu, across a wide range of prices-from soups and salads to sandwiches/burgers, up to impressive mains including meats, ribs, poultry and a few fresh seafood options. They started the kids off with a kids menu page/coloring sheet and a small bag of cheddar gold fish. Warm and inviting, with fireplaces, a beautiful bar and an extensive beer list, oh my! First off, the staff was warm, inviting and super friendly. I did not expect such a fine establishment so far off the beaten path, but right on the outskirts of Amishville was a beautiful place. Not being from the area, this place seemed like a true oasis. We will recommend this restaurant to our friends and family, and I know we will come back next time we are in Lancaster. ![]() The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Our meal at the Fireside Tavern was a wonderful end to a long day of travel and theater with our friends. Angela and Rob were very accommodating in allowing for several separate checks. In fact, as most readers know, there are restaurants that won't allow for separate checks for large parties. Not an easy situation for keeping each family's bill straight. In fact, we had a boy section, a girl section and a grown-up section. The business end of the meal - As traveling friends often do, we had all the kids (8-16) sit at one end of the table and all of us adults sit at the other. Perhaps our serving team's other tables didn't need them at the same time we did, but the attention they paid us was so prompt, it was as if we were their only responsibility for the couple hours we were in their care. Tonight, the stars were aligned in our favor. Even the best servers, through no fault of their own, have times they can't give their guests the best service. As a former waitress, I know that for a serving team, sometimes everything falls into place, and sometimes, it doesn't. I'm afraid the bar has been raised to heights no other serving team will be able to reach. Everyone was very satisfied with their dinner. Amazingly, all the adult menu meals came out together, and all the food was attractively arranged, generously portioned and hot. We ordered everything from Boston Sea Bass to cheeseburgers to salads, to shepherd's pie, to the shrimp poboy to the steak tip sandwich and even a couple kids' menu staples such as mac & cheese. ![]() You couldn't have designed a more diverse group of diners than the 18 of us. Not only did Angel and Rob (I'll call him Rob but I don't know if that's his name) keep all the kids' orders straight and on the correct family's bill, but they remembered the prohibition on caffeinated drinks for one of the kids and politely steered him away from root beer when he asked for it. Some kids were allowed to have soda, some weren't, one could but only if it's caffeine-free, etc. Not every server can make waiting on a multi-family dining party look easy, and we were not an easy bunch to serve. With only a look in her direction, Angela, along with another server (Rob?), was back at our table taking everyone's drink orders. But a couple minutes after Angela left us, I changed my mind, and so did a couple of the dads who saw the list of special beers on the menu. Since one of our families didn't arrive with the rest of us, we postponed ordering drinks. Our table was ready and waiting when we arrived, and shortly after being seated our waitress, Angela was ready to take our beverage order. If the greeting we received inside the front door was to be an indication of what to expect from the rest of the dining team, I knew we were going to be in good hand. I was surprised when my friend told the rest of us that the restaurant would be able to accommodate us on such short notice. During intermission, the gluten-free member of our four-family traveling group found the Fireside Tavern listed on a website for gluten-free eaters and called ahead for a table for 18 people (7 adults/11 kids). Last night, we needed to find a restaurant that was close to Sight and Sound Theater and that promised gluten-free selections.
